ภูมิสถาปัตยกรรม เป็น งานที่สร้างสรรค์โดย ภูมิสถาปนิก เทียบได้กับ จิตรกรรม สร้างสรรค์ โดยจิตรกร ต่างกันที่งานภูมิสถาปัตยกรรม และ ภูมิสถาปนิก ยังจัดว่าเป็นสิ่งใหม่ในประเทศของเรา ซึ่งในด้านวิชาชีพก็เพิ่งประกาศบังคับใช้ ให้เป็นงานที่ผู้ทำต้องมีใบประกอบวิชาชีพ อยู่ภายใต้สภาสถาปนิกเช่นเดียวกับงานสถาปัตยกรรมหลัก
Landscape Architecture รวมงานออกแบบที่เป็นส่วนสร้างมิติที่ลึกซึ้งกว่า หรือ อาจเรียกว่ามิติที่ 4 หรือ มิติของเวลา ด้วยมนุษย์ที่สัมผัสกับงานสถาปัตยกรรม อันแข็งแกร่งเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ไม่สามารถสัมผัสได้ถึงความเปลี่ยนแปลงในแต่ละครั้ง รวมทั้งผลกระทบของสิ่งแวดล้อมที่มีต่องาน หากไม่ประกอบด้วยสิ่งมีชีวิตเช่นต้นไม้
